Garlic bread is always my family’s go-to side dish at a restaurant. Bursting with garlicky flavours, this roasted garlic bread is moist and chewy on the inside with a crispy, crunchy crust. The garlic butter melts in your mouth as you take a bite, making it incredibly fulfilling that it steals the spotlight of the dinner table!
The great thing about roasted garlic bread lies in its simplicity. Easy to make with just a handful of ingredients, you’ll be able to make a flavourful garlic bread that is sure to please. Taking only minutes to prepare, most of the magic happens in the oven! As the bread is toasted and roasted, it soaks up the garlic butter spread that is fragranced with parsley, making every bite irresistible and full of flavours.

Ingredients for roasted garlic bread
- Bread: I used baguette for this recipe as its soft and chewy crumb soaks up the garlic butter spread well. Its crispy crust adds texture to the dish, making it more irresistible!
- Garlic: This recipe uses 2 heads of garlic to achieve an intense garlic flavour.
- Olive oil: For roasting the garlic in the oven.
- Unsalted butter: You could use either unsalted butter or salted butter for this recipe. Simply adjust the amount of salt used for seasoning.
- Seasoning: I used salt, black pepper and chopped parsley to enhance the flavours of the garlic bread.

Why is my garlic bread not crispy?
This is most likely because your garlic bread is not toasted at a high enough temperature. The garlic bread needs to be toasted quickly to achieve a crispy crust with a soft and moist interior. If you toast it at a low temperature or let it sit for a long time after toasting, the garlic bread will harden and become tough and dry.
How do you keep garlic bread from drying out?
Wrap the garlic bread with foil, cloth, or cling film to retain its moisture and freshness. This way, you can prevent the garlic bread from air and from drying out.
How long does garlic bread last?
With a proper storage method, this homemade garlic bread will last for 3-5 days at room temperature.
How to reheat leftover garlic bread?
To make leftover garlic bread fresh again, wrap it in aluminium foil, making sure it’s sealed tightly, and reheat in the oven at 180ºC until the bread is warm and crispy (about 10-15 minutes).
Popular substitutions & additions
- Make a cheesy twist: Sprinkle grated parmesan cheese or mozzarella cheese over the top of the bread pieces and bake until golden brown to enjoy an ooey-gooey cheesy goodness!
- Use bread of your choice: Instead of a baguette loaf, you can use any bread with a soft and tender crumb to make a great roasted garlic bread, such as sourdough and ciabatta.
- Switch up the herb: I used dried parsley in this recipe to slightly enhance the aromatic flavour of the garlic bread. You can use fresh parsley or dried oregano to intensify the aroma even more.

A perfect roasted garlic bread is pretty effortless to make! It makes for a great appetiser or side dish that pairs well with any meals. As the rich aroma of garlicky butter fills your kitchen, I’m sure you’ll be so glad you made it!
