Using flour tortilla to replace a pizza dough, this tortilla pizza is a much healthier alternative. With melted ooey-gooey cheese, toppings of your choice, and a crispy tortilla, it is super satisfying and fulfilling! Using tomato sauce to add a refreshing note by neutralising the greasiness from the melted cheese, this tortilla pizza is full of robust flavours and textures.
This recipe makes a ‘frying pan’ tortilla pizza. It is simple to make with no complicated steps. I included eggs to not only add a nutritional punch to the recipe, but this also helps you to flip the tortilla over in the pan more easily without making any mess! Ingredients for tortilla pizza
- Flour tortilla: This recipe uses one piece of 10-inch flour tortilla.
- Pizza sauce: Use your own favourite pizza sauce. I used tomato sauce to add a refreshing, sweet and tangy flavour.
- Toppings: Add in any toppings you’d prefer! For this recipe, I used bell peppers, sausages, and eggs to make the pizza more nutritious and flavourful. The eggs also allow you to flip over the tortilla more easily!
- Salt: For seasoning the toppings.
- Oil: For cooking the toppings.
- Mozzarella cheese: It helps to bind all the ingredients together as it melts, and the ooey-gooeyness makes this dish even more irresistible!
How to make tortilla pizza
- In a pan, heat some oil over medium-high heat and cook the sausages for 1-2 minutes. Set aside.
- Transfer the diced bell peppers to the pan and season with salt. Stir-fry until soft and fragrant (about 2 minutes).
- Add in beaten eggs and bring the mixture to the centre. When the eggs are slightly cooked, add in 2 slices of mozzarella cheese and sprinkle a handful of shredded cheese on top.
- Place a piece of flour tortilla on top and use the spatula to gently press down to let the eggs and cheese stick to the tortilla.
- Flip the tortilla over, spread tomato sauce evenly across, and place the cooked sausages on top.
- Sprinkle more shredded cheese over the tortilla. Cover with a lid, lower the heat, and cook until the cheese melts.

Popular substitutions & additions
- Add more veggies: You can use more veggies like mushrooms, onions, and olives to make the tortilla more nutritious.
- Switch up the flour tortilla: Flour tortilla has a taste that most resonates with a pizza dough, but you can opt in for a corn tortilla or whole wheat tortilla for an even healthier tortilla pizza!
- Add spices and herbs: Adding in spices and herbs like hot pepper flakes, oregano, or parsley will flavour the pizza even more.
